Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB)
Experienced and trained support
Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB) are experienced teachers trained to support teachers to meet the needs of students whose achievement in learning and behaviour is not fully being realised.
Within the scope of RTLB practice is building teacher and school inclusive practice capability to find solutions that support years 0-10 students overcome substantial barriers to learning.
RTLB practice responds to school initiated requests for support.
RTLB provide support to schools using Te Tūāpapa o He Pikorua as a foundation for
inclusive learning communities for all mokopuna and their whānau:
- Te Matua - Universal (Strengthen inclusive environments, cultures and practices)
- Te Kāhui - Targeted (Offer focussed approaches to enhance participation, learning and wellbeing)
- Te Arotahi - Tailored (Provide more specific supports for unique needs and contexts)
RTLB practitioners are full-time itinerant teachers. In this cluster they work across 67
schools, including primary, intermediate, secondary, kura kaupapa Māori and
wharekura.
